“Preparing Youth for Academic Excellence”

As the executive director and founder of Young Scholars’ Institute, I am pleased to announce our Annual Appeal Fundraising campaign. This campaign is an essential financial source that enhances our program capabilities and functions. Your contribution will enable Young Scholars’ Institute to continue to offer year-round services to Trenton area youth in need of educational, cultural and recreational enrichment.

Since 1990, Young Scholars’ Institute has provided inner-city children with a wide array of academic enrichment programs, including SAT preparatory courses, tutoring, science exploration classes, elementary and middle school enrichment, college tours, career speaker series and college admissions workshops. Our staff, board members and volunteers are dedicated role models who fully support our initiatives.

One of YSI’s most exciting offerings is the Preparation for Reaching Excellence Program (PREP). The six-week summer session is held at the Lawrenceville School. A parent of a rising eighth grader recently described PREP, as “a safe and powerful program, providing children with…the best summer curriculum in the city of Trenton.” Students appreciate the experience as well, sharing the fact that they “like being challenged by the exams” and “enjoy participating in scientific laboratory experiments.”

Benefactors offer similar feedback as former Bristol-Myers Squibb executive Milton E. Goggans explained that BMS is a supporter because “Young Scholars’ Institute builds qualified, educated young men and women who are given the tools to excel in a competitive business environment.”
